What you learn

The PADI Freediver course is structured in three primary sections, designed to empower you with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills.

• Knowledge development about freediving principles through independent study with PADI Freediver eLearning.

• Confined water session to master breathhold techniques, static, and dynamic apnea, aiming to achieve 90 seconds in static apnea and 25 meters in dynamic apnea.

• Open water sessions, you’ll practice free immersion, constant weight freedives, and essential buddy procedures, with the goal of reaching a 10-meter constant weight freedive.

The PADI Freediver course can be completed in 2 days, if you complete the independent study through the PADI eLearning in advance. After booking the course we assign the digital materials to your personal PADI account where you register and complete the theory.

On arrival at the diving centre we start with an introduction and confined water sessions in our swimming pool. The next day we go out with the boat for 2 dive sessions to practice open water dives. First training dives take place on a shallow dive site not deeper than 10 meters. Second session allows freedivers to descend to depth not exceeding 16 meters.

Difference between
south and east coast.

Sri Lanka offers great diversity of dive sites. Differences between diving on the south coast and east coast are significant. You can find wrecks at 6 metres or even at 32 metres depth, magnificent coral reefs, swim-throughs and other specific dive sites.  To meet your expectations, please check what you can expect while diving on the south coast compared to the east coast HERE.

When is Sri Lanka diving season?

Diving in Sri Lanka is affected by two monsoons, south west and north east monsoons. The best time to dive in Unawatuna (south coast) is from mid October until April and in Nilaveli, Trincomalee (east coast) from mid March until end of October. It's simple, half year we are operating in Unawatuna and second half we are open in Nilaveli and Trincomalee.
